The wellness marketplace generates almost $4 trillion in revenue each year. It encompasses many things, including lifestyle, nutrition, supplementation, electronics, bio-electronics, exercise, psychology, spirituality, and more. Solutions can be as simple as multivitamins or as sophisticated as a bio-electronics device, like Somulis, that taps into the body’s vagus nervous system to reduce stress, enhance sleep, and increase focus. In its simplest form, wellness is about “healthy living” or “healthy solutions,” emphasizing active and preventative natural healing.
Since wellness is such a broad category, and because I will be touching on specific aspects of this topic in future blogs, I would like to confine this article to the value of wellness as a concept and how it can enhance fulfillment.
Humans have been interested in, even obsessed with, enhancing their appearance, physiology, and psychological aptitude for thousands of years. The picture shown is from the Global Wellness Institute. It depicts just some of the highlights of the wellness movement throughout history.
There are two essential things to note. Even though we’ve become more technologically proficient, humans still see the value in natural solutions. Second, we see the inherent “goodness” and “logic” of ancient practices and newer solutions. The only real difference between the past and the present is that we now seem better organized around wellness and its implications.
So, what’s at stake? When assessing wellness, it’s best to start at the individual level and move out from there. If you don’t invest time and money in yourself, the consequences are clear—diminished health. Suppose you don’t take care of yourself. The results can include low energy, mood swings, hormone imbalance, general lack of fitness, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, anxiety, depression, suicide, addiction, and cancer. These outcomes not only impact you, but they have a ripple effect on friends and family.
As your health diminishes, health costs rise, insurance rates increase, and quality of life decreases. Stress increases, and the downward spiral continues. This scenario plays out millions of times a day, which is why “wellness” is something we should all consider; it is a requirement that we focus on and dedicate ourselves to healthy choices. Poor choices lead to bad habits and inferior outcomes. Good choices lead to good practices and powerful results. You can be proactive or reactive. If you are constantly reacting, then expect to be hit often. If you are proactive, then you will avoid many blows.
These perspectives aren’t unique but are commonly held wisdom spanning time and culture. At Somulis, we believe in a holistic and multi-faceted approach to health. No single solution should be considered for complex problems like stress and sleep. Unfortunately, not enough of us are getting the message; if they have, they have chosen not to act. You owe it to yourself and those you love to take proactive measures to enhance your physical and mental welfare. Take baby steps. Most people can benefit from drinking more water, taking a quality multivitamin, and beginning a healthy diet. All these can have a profound effect.
As mentioned in our previous blog (Your Vagus Nerve Needs Your Help!), a properly functioning vagus nerve is crucial to stress, sleep, and focus management. Somulis is simple to use, effective, and safe, and it is useable by anyone, anywhere, and anytime. It’s a change agent gently stimulating the vagus nerve through the earlobes, giving your mind and body the tap on the shoulder that it needs to do its job. That tap creates a parasympathetic reaction, releasing oxytocin and acetylcholine, decreasing stress, increasing focus, and enhancing sleep. Be proactive, incorporate a healthier living style, and use Somulis as an essential ally in your journey to be at your best.
